Committee Members
Our dedicated committee members form the backbone of the Nepal Heritage Society in Edmonton, Canada. Comprising individuals with a shared passion for preserving and promoting Nepali culture, each committee member brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the table. Together, we work collaboratively to organize cultural events, educational initiatives, and community engagement activities. The commitment and enthusiasm of our committee members play a pivotal role in steering the society towards its mission of fostering understanding, embracing diversity, and building a strong and connected community. Their dedication reflects the spirit of unity and shared purpose that defines the Nepal Heritage Society.
President: Devendra Karki
Devendra is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with more than 10 years of accounting experience in the charity sector including Senior Leadership level. He has a masters in Arts and Bachelor in Sociology where his spirit for serving the community comes from.
Vice President: Sagun Pandey
Sagun Pandey, a seasoned professional engineer based in Canada, serves as the Power Planning Manager for TELUS in Alberta. With a wealth of expertise in the field, Pandey plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing power resources for the telecommunications giant. Beyond his professional pursuits, he is a dedicated community advocate, engaging in various philanthropic endeavors such as fundraising initiatives etc. Pandey has lent his expertise as a board of Directors for multiple organizations, showcasing his commitment to community development.
Secretary: Suraj Khatiwada
Suraj Khatiwada, a Nepali national, moved to Canada in 2010. He has been employed in an immigrant settlement organization for the past eleven years. Suraj spent five years teaching English in both Canada and Nepal. He has a master's degree (MA) in social science and humanities and a bachelor's degree in social work (BSW). Suraj volunteers in the communities in an array of capacities regularly.
